Sulfur is a bright yellow element and is crystalline solid at room temperature. Sulfur is prevalent in Earth and usually occurs as sulfide and sulfate minerals. It is also referred to as brimstone and its greatest commercial use is in the production of sulfuric acid for phosphate fertilizers as well as being used in matches, insecticides, and fungicides. Sulfur usually has an off-putting smell in the form of rotting eggs or similar to the smell of a skunk.
