Tungsten is a rare metal found naturally on Earth. It is almost exclusively found with other elements and was first isolated as a metal in 1783. Tungsten is unique because it has the highest melting point of all known elements, excluding carbon, and has the highest boiling point. Tungsten in used in many applications, including X-Ray tubes, radiation shielding and incandescent light bulb filaments.
