Asteroid 216 Kleopatra sits in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. For more than 100 years, the exact shape of the asteroid remained a mystery. In 2000, the now-defunct Arecibo telescope in Puerto Rico bounced radar signals off of the asteroid and determined it's shape to be rather like a dog bone floating in space. Scientists think that its strange appearance is possibly the result of a violent collision between two asteroids long ago.
Kleopatra also has two moons, Alexhelios and Cleoselene, which are named after the real twin children Cleopatra had with Mark Antony.
