Fluorescence is the emission of light that some minerals exhibit when exposed to ultraviolet light. Long wave and short wave ultraviolet lights are commonly used to cause fluorescence. The difference in frequencies cause electrons in minerals to behave differently, and thus may cause the same mineral to fluoresce two different colors. Give it a try!

Includes 15 fluorescent minerals, plus a guide sheet.

*To see the fluorescent, this requires the use of short wave or long wave fluorescent light, not included.
